How to Operate like Your Brain’s on Steroids?
What’s your Operating Model?
All of us have our own setting in our own way. We operate in our own customized wavelength. Some are high and some are low. It cracks me up when people say I’m not finding motivation. Basically, you need to vibe high in life to accomplish things. But most are in operating in their factory setting. Looking for a motivation. I’ll tell you something. I’m never motivated. I just operate life.
Let me ask you a question. You see a kid that is running and walking and jumping around. Is that kid happy or sad?
You see an adult running and walking and jumping around. Is that KID happy or sad?
Exactly. None of us, even the animals go into a corner and sit when it’s sad. So, is it the sadness or the lack of motivation?
So, anytime you feeling low or down, don’t just sit there. Do something. Something that spikes your heart beat. Know what happens at that point?
When your heart is pumping a lil faster than it should, it creates more blood flow in your body — in your brain. Meaning faster breathing. Meaning more oxygen to the brain. The same brain which was giving you anxiety and fear and frustration and what not started pumping serotonin. It’s a chemical for happiness. I don’t want to get into the science. But all I’m saying is JUST START & JUST DO IT.
How to operate in that level? Below are the 3 models that I have put together.
The NASA Model:
Author Mel Robbins says when you incorporate the NASA model, there is no way you are not doing things that you’re supposed to do. So, what is NASA Model anyway?
Let’s say that you have to wake up early and run. It’s 05:30 A.M and you wanted to get back under the blanket. But You certainly know that getting back to bed will give you nothing in life I mean nothing. So, what you do? COUNT 5 4 3 2 1. What happen after you reach 1? Your sports shoes are rocking your feet and you’re killing it on the street. I should be a writer I guess.
Anyway, what you’re doing here is sorta hacking your cerebral cortex. That’s the area where your brain thinks and decides. You are not giving it space or time to think instead you decide to put on your running shoe. You’re keeping your brain pre-occupied with the countdown. Immediately you hit the 1 mark, make sure you are out of the bed and putting on your sneaker. It does wonders once you start incorporating it.
Motivation Model:
I mean yes. So many of you do the mistake of having a great sense of dependency on the external motivation. Like YouTube, Movies and what not. That’s a very short emotional burst. It’s like watching a comeback movie and at the end, the good guy wins. But what’s in it for you? It’s like your favourite team wins in the world cup. But in reality, those things won’t help you move the needle. Not one bit. So, what do you do? Find a reason as to why you want to do whatever you want to do.
Yes. The 5 Why’s — the iterative interrogative technique or a pareto analysis. Find it and establish as to why you want to do. My reason to get my 6 pack when I was on my quest was that the recognition that I got from my work place. My colleagues had cars and clothes. But Vishak’s getting a lil respect. Cause he’s got this discipline. I use to eat vegetables at the team dinners and thinking about my next meal while my colleagues thinking about their next smoke break after a team meeting.
Those talks from them propelled my actions and I was sticking with my discipline. So, you need to find your WHY. Have a goal. But have a vision. Don’t do it for you, that’s cool. But do it for your family. Do it for your kids. Whatever that is you’re trying to accomplish.
Vishak’s Model:
Listen to EMINEM, TUPAC, BIGGIE, 50 CENT, NAS, Jay-Z, RAKIM, Ice Cube and more 80s and 90 artists. These guys will give you a better perspective in accomplishments. I find it funny when people say these above-mentioned artists throw a lot of F-bombs. My question to you is, why take everything in a literal sense? Look at things what you can’t see. I mean listen to what they mean and not what they say by assessing the face value. WORD!
I also find it funny when people blasting out some love songs while working out like Bollywood or Taylor Bieber or Justin Swift or whatever but you catch my drift. You can’t vibe to that when you zone out in a place of higher heartbeat. It’s like a contradiction going on your brain while what you listen is craping some BS and you’re actually going hard in reality.
So, stay hard and kill it folks.
